Day 6 Welcome to WEEK 2! Day 6 paintings are sold to an anonymous sponsor (how mysterious!). I do know today was chosen in honor of a birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to someone, and thank you for sponsoring this day of my challenge.   I’m happy to be in week 2. Here is how I kicked it off in a MIXED BAG theme.     And since today’s sponsor wants to remain a mystery, I’m going to keep the  last painting of the day a mystery. Touche! 😉   If you’d like to own works like these, click HERE to find out how – it’s easy!  Or, you may use the form below to contact me. Day 5 Week one! Whew! I made it! Thank you all for your support this week! I loved spending the week immersed in my painting AND I’m very happy it’s Friday! (I wonder if I’ll paint over the weekend. Hmmmm… I’ll let you know.) Day 5’s sponsor picked ABSTRACT LANDSCAPE as her theme. Here’s a few of them. You’ll be able to view the whole series at the post-challenge celebration/art reception at Fraidy Cat Studio in San Clemente on Sunday, November 2nd from 1-3 pm. I hope you’re planning to stop by!     These paintings are sold but there are still some days available. Day 4  Today the challenge got grueling, and not because of the heat here in So Cal. Not having a pre-determined theme for the day proved more challenging than I thought. It took a few self-pep-talks (by few I mean 14) and 18 canvases to get 5 works that I quite like. Here’s to persevering!      SOLD These paintings are available. If you’d like to own them, please contact me using the form below. And if you’d like to make my life easier and provide me with a theme by sponsoring a future day’s work, click HERE. What was I thinkin’?!

Yup, I’ve said it before, but now, with one day before lift-off, the nerves are really trying to get the better of me. Who am I kidding? They’ve been working a number on me all week. So here, in an attempt to remind myself WHY I’m taking on 125 paintings in 25 days, I present the reasons I’m going to fling myself out of the nest of safety, comfort, and familiarity and into the abyss of painting madness: For starters, I want to build a better habit of creating my art more consistently.  Fact is, each day I paint consecutively builds on the last painting experience and this can only lead to faster improvement. Faster is better, right? Painting consistently also helps to keep those creative juices flowing, so I want to see how that shows up in my art and how it might impact other areas of my life. Painting five paintings in the same day with the same theme (working in a series) will help further develop my skills as an artist. With that kind of volume, how can it not?! Painting in a series (5 paintings in one theme) provides the collector with a cohesive body of work. At 6″x6″, the paintings are small, but when framed and/or displayed together, they encompass a larger area of wall space and look fantastic over a couch (above image), over a bed, in a wet bar, hung vertically, horizontally, or even in a square on any wall (in which case you’ll have an extra one to hang somewhere else or give as a gift = BONUS!) Buying original art (from any...

Week 1… Primed, toned, and ready to go!

My challenge is just a week away, so I’ve been doing some prep work to get ready. The canvases come primed, but I like to add another layer of primer in order to create more layers of paint and reduce the canvas texture showing up in my paintings. Then I tone each canvas orange because if I miss a spot while painting a piece, that spot won’t be white. 😉 So there you have it, step 1, and another day closer. Make sure you sign up as a subscriber to get my Challenge updates, and if you’d like to sponsor a day and become an owner of one of my days’ works, click HERE....
